Tea tree oil is considered to be antibacterial when used topically. It has been a goto healing plant for the aborigines in Australia and New Zealand. Their oral folklore speaks of healing lakes that were surrounded by Maleleuca plants.
Fast forward to today; TTO is used for its antiseptic properties and for certain skin conditions. However, it is toxic when swallowed and must not be taken orally. Tea tree oil has also been shown to kill or repel insects. In some cases, it is as effective or more effective and safe than standard insecticides or repellents.
Tea tree oil is available in many over-the-counter skin products, including soaps and lotions.

Collection Method: Steam distillation

Directions for Use:
Diffusion: Diffuse three to four drops of essential oil with water in a ceramic or electric diffuser daily.
Topical use:
Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize any skin sensitivity. See additional precautions below.
Surface cleaner: Add a few drops to a spray bottle with water and use on surfaces as a cleansing and purifying agent.
