How Custom Candles Can Elevate Your Wedding Décor and Favours

Wedding candles, favours and centrepieces

Your wedding day is one of the most intentional days of your life. Every flower chosen, every fabric draped, every detail considered; all of it adds up to a moment that is unmistakably yours. So why settle for favours that feel like an afterthought?

Across Sri Lanka, couples are increasingly choosing hand-made candles as the heart of their wedding aesthetic, not just as a gift for guests to take home, but as a living, breathing part of the decor itself. A flickering flame on a reception table does something no flower arrangement quite can: it makes the room feel warm, intimate, and alive.

At Candle House Ceylon, we have been part of some of the most beautiful weddings in Sri Lanka since 2016. Here is everything you need to know about bringing candles into yours.

Why Custom Candles Are Trending at Sri Lankan Weddings

The shift is unmistakable. Where once a wedding favour meant a small box of sweets or a miniature photo frame, today's couples want something that guests will actually use and remember.

Candles sit at a rare intersection: they are beautiful enough to display, practical enough to use, and personal enough to feel meaningful. When you add a custom scent or a label with your names and wedding date, a candle stops being a favour and becomes a keepsake. Guests burn it at home weeks later and are taken straight back to the moment they first lit it: your wedding day.

Beyond the favour table, candles have become one of the most versatile tools in a wedding stylist's kit. They work in every venue, from a beachside ceremony in Galle to a grand ballroom in Colombo, and in every aesthetic, from tropical lush to minimalist modern.

A candle can be decor, fragrance, place setting and thank-you gift in one considered detail.

Table Centrepiece Ideas with Custom Candles

The reception table is where your guests spend most of the evening, and where the mood is set, one flame at a time.

Tall glass centrepieces

A cluster of three Maxi Glass candles at varying heights, surrounded by tropical foliage or white florals, creates a centrepiece that is effortlessly elegant. The double wick means a larger, more luminous flame, perfect for filling a table visually without overwhelming it.

Low-table intimate settings

For long banquet tables or low-seated settings, smaller candles nestled among petals and greenery create a dreamy, candlelit dinner feel. Mix unscented pillar candles with your signature scented candle at the table centrepiece so the fragrance is noticeable, not overpowering.

Ceremony aisles and altar arrangements

Line your ceremony aisle with candles in glass holders for a procession that feels cinematic. At the altar, a larger statement candle in a vessel that matches your colour palette makes for a beautifully symbolic centrepiece that photographs exceptionally well.

Personalised Candle Favour Ideas Your Guests Will Actually Keep

The best wedding favour is one guests feel too good to throw away. A beautifully labelled candle, scented with a fragrance you chose together, is exactly that.

We offer mini candles in tin or glass that are perfectly sized for a favour: light enough to carry, beautiful enough to display. Each one can be wrapped in tissue and placed in a kraft box or a linen pouch, tied with ribbon in your wedding colours.

Add a custom label with your names, your wedding date, and a short line such as "Thank you for being part of our day", and you have a favour that tells a story.

Popular scent choices for wedding favours include florals like rose and jasmine, soft musks, fresh citrus blends, and warming vanilla notes. We can also help you develop a signature scent, one that is uniquely yours, something guests associate only with your wedding.

Custom Label and Scent Options

Personalisation is where a candle favour becomes a candle memory. At Candle House Ceylon, we work with couples directly to create something that feels entirely their own.

Custom labels can include your names, wedding date, a quote, or a motif that mirrors your invitation suite. Choose colours that match your palette, from dusty rose, ivory and gold, deep green, or pure white, and we will design a label that sits beautifully on the vessel.

Custom scents can be selected from our existing range or developed as a bespoke blend. Tell us what notes you love, whether warm and romantic, light and floral, or clean and fresh, and we will create a fragrance profile that feels like the two of you.

The result is a candle that no one else in the world has. That is the point.

Ordering Custom Candles for Large Quantities

Wedding orders require planning, and we make that process as smooth as possible.

  • Minimum quantities: We accept bulk candle orders for weddings. Our team will advise on the ideal quantity based on your guest count and format, whether individual favour candles, table centrepiece sets, or a mix of both.
  • Lead time: Custom labelled orders require a minimum of three to four weeks from design approval to delivery. For larger weddings or bespoke scent development, we recommend reaching out six to eight weeks in advance to allow time for sampling and refinement.
  • Delivery: We deliver island-wide across Sri Lanka. For Colombo weddings, we can also coordinate direct drop-off to your venue or wedding planner.

The earlier you reach out, the more we can do together. We love being involved in the detail, and we take every wedding order personally.

Real Wedding Inspiration

Still imagining what it might look like? Here is how some of our favourite weddings have used candles.

A garden reception in Colombo used clusters of our Maxi Glass candles in a rose and white fragrance as table centrepieces, with matching mini tin candles as favours. Each tin carried a label with the couple's names and a pressed botanical illustration. Guests were still talking about the scent months later.

A beachside ceremony in the South placed pillar candles along the aisle in hurricane glasses, with the altar centred around a large sculptural candle in white. As the sun set, the candlelight took over; no other lighting needed.

A corporate anniversary celebration opted for our candle gift sets as table gifts for senior guests, each set personalised with the company's branding alongside a warm seasonal scent. The same approach works beautifully for intimate weddings where each guest table feels curated rather than uniform.

Your Wedding, Your Scent, Your Story

A candle is one of the oldest ways humans have marked a moment. A flame at a celebration, a light in the dark, a scent that carries memory long after the day is done. When you bring that into your wedding, truly made for you, by hand, in Sri Lanka, you give your guests something rare.

Not just a favour. A feeling.

Candle House Ceylon has been hand-pouring candles in Sri Lanka since 2016, crafted by local artisans and designed for the moments that matter most.
